Australian Internet Web Filter

Still in the process of gathering more information about Senator Conroys wrong-headed scheme to try and censor the web of ‘Refused Classification’ content. Currently the hardest thing so far has been to try and get a clear definition of what the hell ‘Refused Classification’ actually encompasses. Seems to vary greatly depending on medium, and even within individuals media it seems to be pretty confusing and ‘airy’.

Anyway, spent a few minutes today tinkering with Yahoo’s fantastic YQL API that allowed me to set up a couple of pages to trawl through Senate and House of Rep debates for anyone mentioning the words ‘internet+filter’. I’ll likely try and turn them into RSS feeds when I get some more spare time, but in the meantime the Senate one is here and the House of Representatives one is here.
